IMU Comes First in International Triathlon

A Farmosa International Triathlon 2008

The A Farmosa International Triathlon was held on 10-11 of May in A Farmosa Resort, Malacca. It was a spectacular race which attracted hundreds of triathletes, swimmers, cyclists and runners from all over Malaysia and even countries like Australia, Japan, Singapore etc. It is an event which consists of 1.5km swim, 40km cycle, and 10km run, and it was divided into individual category and team category.

This year, IMU sent two teams to compete in the male relay category and mixed relay category respectively.

The male team consists of Jeremy Er Anke (swimmer), Jeremy Cheah Gin Tatt ( cyclist) and Lee Kuan Ken (runner), and the mixed relay team consists of Selene Chew (swimmer) and Jimmy Tee Chin Li (cyclist and runner). All five of them are from M206. Besides relay team, IMU also sent a triathlete – Tan Jackie (M205), who did all three disciplines himself in the individual category. It was his first attempt in triathlon. All of them were representing Infinity Milers and swimming club from IMU.

After rounds of fighting in the water and on the road, the mixed relay team from IMU emerged first in the mixed relay category, beating 15 other teams to clinch the championship trophy. The other male relay team and the male triathlete also did reasonably well in the race. The final results with timing will be released soon. It was truly a great experience and all of the participants would like to take this opportunity to thank IMU and everyone for the support. They promise to continue to train hard to bring IMU name to greater height, and to embody a well-rounded education in the university.

Helen Keller Society - Sign Language Classes

Hello my fellow batchmates, Su Anne here ( batch rep for the Helen Keller Society). Just want to inform those who signed up for the sign language classes that classes will only be starting in July (Sem 2) as our timetable and Ms. Rose's ( the person that is gnna teach us sign language) schedule cannot accommodate any classes at the mean time. We will have classes most probably on Monday,Tuesday,Wednesday or Thursday after 3.00pm. There will be about 12 classes in total. I will keep you guys posted on any latest news. Well, for Sem 1. Anyways just a quick reminder bout tomorrow. Don't forget!!!!

I've already informed the dental students about the dinner and about 20 of them are showing up, so to those that will be joining us for the after party, don't forget to come tomorrow, it's at Barcelona, Sunway Pyramid. Well estimated time will be around 11-ish?? Anyways I'll be going to uni tomorrow (I wanted to skip but.. one of the seniors said it's important to come for COP) so... if you see me and you're going don't forget to let me know!!!

Noise & Movement

Hello fellow batch members of ME/DT108.

I am here to promote an event called "Noise and Movement" which is a lunch time presentation, happening once every two months or monthly (hopefully), whereby musicians (be it rock bands, classical violin group, solo singing, acapella, or even a choir) have a chance to flaunt their musical talent and also gain exposure in performing, while music lovers get to appreciate the various genre of music in our very own campus live.

This music production is going to take place :-

A: Definitely not! When you exercise a muscle, it gets bigger. You should only be doing sit-ups if you want a bigger stomach.

World Lupus Day 2008

As some of you may know, I am working on a mini charity project for World Lupus Day. A photography competition is held and the task is to capture Anything Butterfly. Those who wish to participate can check out this site for more information. [Sorry for the late notice].

A group of us have come up with an idea to make a Butterfly formation in the atrium. Those who wish to participate may do so but let either me/Navin know in advance so that we can colour code you guys. At the moment, we do not know how many people are needed for this formation. Do note that IF there are too many people, then not everyone will be part of the formation. We will, however, try to fit in as many as possible.

The aim of this project is to raise awareness among the people about Lupus. Do you know what it is and what it does? How about the significance of the Butterfly?

Rock Up! 2008

Rock Up! 2008 is a charity event where music is used to make a change in other peoples live. The event includes a concert where musicions, singers, dancers and celebrities come to highlight the plight of the Agathians Shelter Home. The Home is currently raising funds for the construction of their new residence and is in need of RM350,000 to complete the construction of their new residence. However this fundraising event will be aiming to raise at least RM40,000 in order for the home to begin construction work. (Rock Up! 2008)

Agathians Shelter Home which is located in Petaling Jaya is a home to children from various backgrounds; some are orphaned, some only have a single parent who can’t afford to feed them and others are either abandoned or neglected. (Agathians Shelter)

What is the date of today? 19/4/2008, time for IMU Ball.
The winner or IMU idol will be given two tickets to go to the IMU Ball, and do you know who is our first IMU idol at IMU? Obviously, she is from... M108!!!!! We say congratulations to her.. JADE!!!!!!!
Her singing technique is awesome and great, i hope all of you did enjoy the show on Thursday and those who are going to IMU ball tonight will have fun....

I was very very very bored (despite having exams which is really really near)!! So I went though my Pictures folder and found..

First day of Uni life.... ME1/08 AND DT1/08 registration day..

It was also the most formal day for us... I wonder why...

I will always remember the Pampers group... ONEDERS... Diaper on the head!!! Thank goodness I only had to wear my nametag on my arm. Phew~

Hey medt108,

I'm Cecilia :) I know most of your or majority of you will be like, "what?? who???" well I'm one of those pseudo-nerds or maybe a nerd wannabe that sits all the way in front during lectures. I'm doing dentistry *smiles widely to show teeth* and I'm so glad I'm doing it, cus it's really fun and stuff hahaha but it's really stressful cus we have heaps of stuff to study. Who doesn't right?

Aren't you all really tired and bored and like stressed out?? I totally reckon that we should have some excitement in our lives.

Anyways.. how's everyone finding IMU? Nice? Fun? Odd? I think it's a combination of all 3. It's nice cus it's filled with nice and very sexy people. It's Fun cus there's so many things going on like IMU idol and e.t.c. Finally, it's odd cus there are no tutorials. Every thing's independent learning. We might as well pay them our school fees, stay at home and study and come 6 months later for our semester exams hahaha oh and come every Tuesdays to attend PBLs. It's really odd that they have no tutes here. I used to have tutes and lectures in college and lab sessions every week, even with those lab sessions every week, I'm still a sucker when it comes to finding RBCs on the microscope. The first wet lab I had, I had to get the lecturer to find it for me. The 2nd one, I got one of my friends, FAMOUS AMOS to find it for me. It's amazing isn't it, how Amos can be famous.. it's soo cliche.. cus even the cookie store is called Famous Amos.

But yea.. oh and it's odd cus they're dismantling the escalators. Isn't that like expensive??? Like why do they want to safe electricity for? Save the planet??? But we'll have to use our energy and then by the time we walked up to LT1 we'll become hungry than after the first lecture we run down to the cafeteria to grab a bite and run back up, the the time we run back up, we'll feel hungry again, then we'll come down again to have an early lunch. Then the cafeteria will run out of food and they'll have to order it from their supplier, who'll have to kill chicken lar.. fish lar until they run out.. you see everyone's been running down to the cafeteria so much, till lately there's been no chicken rice for like almost 2-3 weeks!! SEEE they've run out of chickens to kill!!

This must be why there's been no more chicken rice lately!!!

It certainly has been a while since I've come back to blogger. I used to blog oodles on this platform once upon a time and now, it feels like homecoming! =D

Alright, drama aside, I shall truly immerse myself in the opportunist that is me and proceed with my first post here that will take the form of an. . .

Yes folks, I have a printer to sell! It's a Lexmark colour printer, and it's going for RM80. The price is negotiable and it's brand new, still sealed, as you can see from the picture. Mind you, my 6MP camera was outta juice so bear with the low resolutions a 2MP camera phone can provide ye folks. It doesn't come with ink, but Lexmark ink catridges aren't hard to find.

Now, I know you people need printers to print out lecture notes. And well, if you think it's too pricey, well SHARE then! Get your roomies, homies and put together cash to get this exquisite Apple-wannabe Lexmark printer! Nice, glossy and white, you never have to worry about photocopying notes ever!

So invest wisely and purchase the damn thing already! =D

Recruitment Drive Day 1 (and some cheerleading stuff)

Since no one has started, I shall take this opportunity to be the first to write! :D

Well, I guess Recruitment Drive was okay. Some clubs were missing though. I was told that they will be there tomorrow, Recruitment Drive Day 2. There are so many clubs to join but which one to choose? You can't join everything while having to juggle the time with academics etc right?

A few of our batchmates also performed during the Recruitment Drive today- Faye, Rudy, Amos... (Sorry if I left out some more names. I don't quite remember who else performed) ;) Tomorrow is going to be the first practice for our batch volleyball team. Honestly speaking, I am scared. There are many 'terror' people in our batch who are multi-talented. *gulp* Nevertheless, if you think I suck really badly, just bear with me lah... be it chess, ping pong, badminton or volleyball itself. *haha, feeling like a retard*

Also, to those who are in cheerleading...

We have a suggestion for the cheerleading uniform already. Do submit your suggestions if you have any. It can be the design for the uniform or even flag. We have to decide on a day for our meeting soon. If possible, we should have the meeting next week because on the following week, the DT students will have to prepare for their exams. We will need people to teach us how to do stunts such as elevator, extension, liberty, basket tosses, jumps and the most boring part --> motions.

We still have to figure out what the team name should be and any suggestions from our fellow batchmates is warmly welcomed as long as it is user-friendly. ;)
